Thoughts on the 2022 Business Summit

by R.A. Weigel, EdD, CPCC, CLPC, and President of CCNI

When I became a teacher, many years ago now, I was told it would take at least 3 years before I would become comfortable enough to bring more of “me” into the classroom. I taught music K-12 and had a few English classes thrown in for good measure. Because I was a novice in the education world, it seemed that my day never ended as I taught all day and then wrote lesson plans every night. (It’s a good thing there was no email or social media back then.)

After 3 years I did get more comfortable with my work, and I started adding my own flavors to the classroom. It took a little time but eventually my class numbers grew, the students began demanding me to be their teacher, and the results of my efforts were making a positive difference in the lives of those children.

Since that time, I’ve changed positions nine times and each time it took around 3 years to grow into the role and make the positive changes that are often required in order to get the results that were required, needed, and wanted.

What does this have to do with the Business Summit? I’m glad you asked. This is our 2nd Business Summit. As an organization, we are growing and learning how to best meet your needs. We are an organization that’s been around a few years, but the focus was only on coaching and not about how to run a successful Christian business. In reality, you need both.

The theme verse for the Business Summit is  1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

The goal of the Business Summit is:

To help all Christian Coaches to improve their business and thereby their outreach for Christ.

When I look at an overview of Christian coaching, I see too many of our brother and sister Christian coaches not currently running a business at the level they need or want. Well… that’s not good enough! I believe that God wants us to be examples in this life and we need our Christian businesses to be structured in such a way that we push against the darkness of this world. That means that CCNI needs to be there to give the support, help, training, materials, and the teachers that can help you run your Christian coaching business at the level you need and want.

Bottom line – this is all about giving the glory to God. It’s not about reaching success in the ways that the world defines success but reaching whatever success is necessary for each person to give the glory to God. That’s going to be different for each person but when we believe with each other, pray for each other, and support each other through venues like the 2022 Business Summit, we are moving closer to putting the right pieces in place.

The Business Summit agenda has three presenters June 7 and 8, two presenters June 9 and 10, and one presenter on June 11. Each presentation will be one hour long, and we will be using a very specific learning protocol that I believe you’ll not only enjoy for your own learning, but something you’ll want to use for your future presentations. You may not be able to make all the presentations, but each session will be recorded and made available only to those who register.

Perhaps it will take 3 years before we get the Business Summit to the place where we make the biggest impact. Perhaps not. It may even take you at least 3 years to get comfortable with your own coaching business. Perhaps not. Whatever we do, we’re supposed to keep getting better at it because satisfaction with the status quo is not the mantra of believers.

I hope you’ll consider being part of the upcoming 2022 CCNI Business Summit. And keep letting me know what you’d like to see or hear in order to more effectively help you to run your business. Thanks for being a part of CCNI and our desire to help Christian coaches around the world.
