Take a Stand

by R.A. Weigel

If there’s anything of which I’m convinced, it’s that as believers we need to step up and take back the reins or ownership of the things that Satan seems to have gotten his grubby hands upon. I don’t think I have to go into detail of the different businesses, trades, fields, or roles that were at one time considered to be the vanguards of honesty, integrity, ethics, and quality but now seem corrupt or going in the wrong direction. How did that happen? Well, it’s because Christ was pushed out of the way and secularism was elevated to religious levels.

That’s why I love Christian coaching. It often feels like we are on the front lines of the spiritual battle because as we coach, question, support, and help our clients through the different trials and tribulations of their lives, we push back against the darkness. We bring light through our coaching because we trust the Holy Spirit as part of our process. We serve others by listening while the systems of the world ignore – and we help others find future direction when the enemy wants to dwell on the past. We give wings to their dreams and empowerment to their actions.

So, perhaps it’s good to look at our work as Christian coaches from the perspective of the spiritual battle. There are certainly moments when the fight is difficult, and we’re tempted to give up. There are times when we wonder if we’re doing what’s right, helping enough, or providing the right encouragement. There are even times we get tired and think about taking the easy way – like giving up coaching and working for the world. But that’s when it’s good to remember that our reliance is not on ourselves, but on Christ. I believe that each one of us has been called by the Lord to coach others and push against the darkness. And since we have the ability to put on the full armor of God, (Ephesians 6:10), let’s do that together and stand firm against all the strategies of the devil.

As Christian coaches, we love to serve others, and we don’t give up on our dreams – or theirs. We fight the good fight of faith and take the road less traveled. We engage in the battle, and we protect our clients as they navigate their personal dream journey. And the same God who gave victories to the great men and women of the Bible is ready and willing to make divine intervention for us too.

Every person we coach with the love of God in our hearts is gaining traction and pushing into the enemy’s territory. That’s why you’ve been called to be a Christian coach. God’s dream for your life is probably bigger than you’ve yet to realize. You’re a warrior who has been called to lead the way and help others in the spiritual battle. And as long as you don’t quit, the Lord is going to give you a victory. That doesn’t mean it’s always going to be comfortable or without some bruises, cuts, and bumps along the way… but the victory is yours if you’ll keep pushing through.

With the Lord’s help, you are more than a conqueror. And even if the seeds of your personal coaching dreams have not yet sprouted or reached a level of fruitful maturity, as long as you keep planting and watering, God will give the increase. (Galatians 6:9 (NIV) – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.)

All of us with CCNI are grateful that we can stand with you as we help each other shape our individual destinies. As Christian coaches, we’re all on the front lines of the spiritual battle – so let’s defeat the darkness of doubt, worry, discouragement, loneliness, and fear – by standing strong together and believing with each other because one of the best ways to fulfill your dream journey – is to help your brother or sister in Christ to accomplish theirs.
