How having a support group of like-minded Christian coaches has helped me move my coaching aspirations forward.
Looking in the mirror most days, I see myself in a situation that isn’t what I had originally planned or desired. My coaching business has been stagnant or non-existent for the better part of the past 5 years. Not being successful with my dream job has weighed heavily on my mind for the past year or so. I spoke with my coach (yes, coaches need a coach) about this situation and how I can improve my mindset and situation. One of the outcomes of that meeting is the need for me to surround myself with like-minded Christian coaches who continually build community together and support each other in their drive to become better coaches.
In my mindset, at the time, I was concerned that I wasn’t “successful” enough to “allow myself” to join coaching groups. I felt that my lack of successful coach business building disqualified me from seeking additional support from those that were more successful. After praying about this mindset shift that I desperately needed, the Lord provided an opportunity for me to join CCNI’s Board of Directors and I jumped at the chance.
During my first year I learned that even though we (the board of directors) were all individually working to better our “silo” or part of CCNI, we needed to continually pray and support each other as one unified CCNI and as Christian brothers and sisters.
1 Peter 3:8 – Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
By observing and doing the above, I have seen CCNI’s board grow and strengthen through adversity. I have been supported and encouraged in ways I thought impossible just months before. By having a support group of like-minded Christian coaches, I have been able to look myself in the mirror and know that the Lord is in control. He has provided me with the next steps and a drive to move into those next steps. Without the support of my fellow Christian coaches, I would not be as bold with my steps as I would have been alone.
I urge all who read this to please lean into Jesus for all things and to join a group of Christian coaches who will help strengthen and support you not only in your walk with the Lord but in your endeavors as a Christian coach. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
